O seminário de trabalho The colonization of Portugal co-organizado pelo Instituto de História Contemporânea e pela Universidade de Drexel decorreu nos dias 14 e 15 de dezembro de 2023 na Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal e contou com a presença de vários investigadores da equipa do FIREUSES. A partir da discussão de várias publicações em preparação, previamente partilhadas por todos os participantes, discutiu-se a importância das dinâmicas coloniais na construção do Portugal metropolitano. Em particular, tivemos oportunidade de discutir uma versão preliminar do artigo de Inês Gomes e Frederico Ágoas, membros do projeto, intitulado “Good fire and bad fire: the science of fire and the traditional knowledge of scrub burning.”
The workshop The colonization of Portugal, co-organised by the Institute of Contemporary History and Drexel University, took place on 14 and 15 December 2023 at the National Library of Portugal and was attended by several researchers from the FIREUSES team. From the discussion of various publications in preparation, previously shared by all the participants, we discussed the importance of colonial dynamics in the construction of metropolitan Portugal. In particular, we had the opportunity to discuss a preliminary version of the article by Inês Gomes and Frederico Ágoas, members of the project, entitled “Good fire and bad fire: the science of fire and the traditional knowledge of scrub burning.”
