Synopsis
-
Hayler and Hopkins inform Lopez that the insurance of the ship Venus can not be regulated conformably to Lopez' wishes. They forwarded the letters that Lopez' enclosed to Lisbon and Gibraltar. They had requested Mayne & Co. to gave them the last intelligence they had on the ships' insurances. Low offers to logwood and mahogany - they recommend Lopez to not send any more. They considered prudent the decision of Lopez of sending the [ship] Cleopatra immediately back to Africa. Insurance for the goods shipped in the Diana. Low prices for the rum brought by Captain Boyd from Jamaica. Insurance of 10 puncheons rum, according to directions from Captain Benjamin Wright. Jamaican sugars prices are falling. Attached is a receipt of £1000 insurance on the Neptune, Capt. James Bourke, from Newport to the Mole, Hispaniola, and back to Newport.
