Synopsis
-
Schooner: Eleanor. Captain: Jeremiah Mayhew. Destination: St Christopher. In St Christopher, Mayhew should deliver the cargo to Hart Rosco & New, merchants there, agreeable to bills of lading. Rosco & New have Lopez's orders to furnish Mayhew with what may be judged by them, Mayhew and Thomas Littlefield to procure a load of salt. Then, Mayhew should make his way to St Martin to procure there a load of salt. If Mayhew cannot get a load of salt there, he should proceed down to the Turks Islands and there take as much salt as the vessel can conveniently carry, and proceed back to Newport. Lopez asks Mayhew to bring Eleanor back early enough to improve the whole season of whaling, "an object for which she is intended".
