Synopsis
-
Brigantine: Charlotte. Captain: William Bourk. Destination: Curaçao. David Haim de Valle has chartered the brigantine and Lopez shipped the cargo on his account. If Vale thinks it convenient, the brigantine should stop at St Eustatius on the way to Curaçao. When Bourk arrives at St Eustatius or Curaçao, he should deliver Vale the whole or any part of the cargo he may choose at either of these islands. Vale assured Lopez that he will dispatch the brigantine back to Newport in 15-20 days and pay Bourk the amount of his obligation and as much more specie as will pay for the charter party of the brigantine, together with men's wages, etc. It is probable that Vale will incline to ship some sugars, hides and pimento to Lopez, "but by no means take in any one article either at Curaçao or St Eustatia that will tender the Brig.t liable to seizure as I do not chuse to run any risk". Lopez hopes to have the brigantine back by September to perform another voyage in the Fall.
