Synopsis
Lopez informs his brother that he had arrived in Charleston in Lopez's ship the Hope 12 days before. According to Lopez's instructions, Moses advertised the ship for sale but there was no offers. Only one master of vessel went to view the ship. At last, Thomas Farr Junior asked the price and did an offer, which was lower to the amount demanded by Lopez. Moses advertised to take freight for London. Offers for pitch, tar and rice. Isaac da Costa attended to all the foregoing "with an assiduity not to be expected but from a Gentleman of such generous principles, and known character. Costa and Tarr provided rice, as well as an amount in bills. The ship will sail for London in 15 days. Additions to the letter on May 8: payments made by Costa and Farr. Costa shipped 112 tierces of rice and will complete his part in a day or two. Moses expects Tarr to also complete his part.
