Synopsis
-
Moses Lopez sends bills of exchange. He completed the loading of Aaron’s vessel with rice, pitch and green tar. He received Captain Pinniger’s draft in Lopez's favour and the balance from Isaac da Costa and Thomas Farr junior to Aaron Lopez and Jacob Rodriguez Rivera. No bills of exchange on London to be had, though is likely to have one for £100 that afternoon. Moses will design a bill for Godfrey Laycock for Broadbent & Bland shall remit in dollars and gold. He had another bill of exchange that he would remit to Aaron by Mr Boilston, a Boston merchant. Captain Bowers intends to sail the following Monday. On May 20, Moses adds that he could not obtain the bill of exchange for Laycock, so he was forced to remit him £100 stg in cash. On May 23, he informs Aaron of Mr Pimenta's death. He encloses a bill of exchange of £100 stg drawn by Governor Wright of Georgia to Abraham Mortier Esq. of New York
