They express their disappointment with some incidents related to the contract of the spermaceti manufacturers. They were informed that most of the factors of Nantucket had procured all the head matter they could, “but we have reason to believe they have no other method to dispose of it, but to their former employers”. The head matter will be received at the high price they give “at the dissolution from our articles”. Moses Lopez was to Nantucket to purchase on his separate account without limitation. The “Philadelphians” did not reply to their letter “and we are well assured had given orders to them Nantucket Factor, to continue purchasing at the market price, but the quantity unknown”.
