Synopsis
-
Lopez acknowledges receipt of Brown & Co.’s last letter covering Messrs. Huyseys’s invoice and an account of 24 casks of bad head matter. He gave Mandsey & Co. the perusal of Huyseys’s invoice and he is now enclosing it. “Messrs. Mandsey told me they would object to allow you any interest as they think it unreasonable, the one from the nature of the purchase of this bad head matter, and the other because it was your own neglect to demand the balance in due time & that they would write you on the subject: for my own past I will comply with whatever they do, & appears to be reasonable meanwhile have left in Mr. Bery Masons’ hands, as much as the ammount of your account reserving the interest in question”. Robinson & Co. and other merchants concerned in the spermaceti works, “thinks still our meeting on Business relating thereto, to be of service to our Community for the aswing season in whose sentiments I joyn”.
