Synopsis
-
Lopez send again a letter for Joseph Sherwood, Esq., since he had not received any answer from Brown & Co. He informs them that he has a vessel to sail for London in a fortnight. He promises to respond to the content of Brown & Co.’s last in his next letter. In the meanwhile, he writes: “I am happy to discover in my Worthy Friends so obliging sentiments towards me, as also a ready disposing to reconcile whatever incongruity or dissonance now appears in our commercial intercourse; as I value myself, both by principle & inclination in averting, in the Course of my little business any altercations, even at the expense of ceding my own right”. He looked for the minute of his agreement with John Brown but could not find it. “The purport of which, if I remember right, was to ascertain what quantity of Russia Duck, Glass, & Cotton Wool O was to deliver (as I then did) in part of 70 or 80 tons piggs which your house was to furnish me on demand; as for the rest of the Goods, they were to be British Manufactories at the usual advance you had them before; That Piggs to be likewise at the customary Price of £5 stg. per ton”.
