Synopsis: Lopez laments his absence from Newport at the time Moses Brown visited the city. He is sending Brown & Co. two pieces of broadcloth of three they had ordered – the other piece did not meet the taste of Mr Allen – and some other goods: “I had an opportunity to crowd with some other goods, I put off in exchange for a vessel I bought; the reason I had to embrace such an opportunity was, because I though I was doing you a service, as the amount thereof would always suit you best in more vendable articles than a superficial broad cloth of a bad colour”.
