Synopsis: Brown & Co. enclose a letter for London and another to Jacob Rodriguez Rivera concerning the head matter business, “urging that some effectual measures be persued to prevent the destruction of that branch”. The manufacturers of Providence had written their opinion to the gentlemen of Boston, “inforcing the necesity of a stop’s being put by such information at home as will cause all oil sent from America to be examined and the dutys paid on all head matter shipt. You’l use your influence with the other gentlemen and take care that it be done”.
