Synopsis
Mears tells Lopez, regarding his last orders, that he may be able to purchase some flaxseed for 2 dollars, and velvets from 12 to 15 dollars. He also informs him on the kind of commodities that “will answer” in the market (middling and coarse cloths, woollen stuff of every kind, trimmings, worsted stockings and all kinds of men's ware). The salt Lopez has will not sell for so much as the coarser and brighter sort, though it will readily exchange for flaxseed. Difficulties to getting flour out of New York state – there is no possibility to obtain a permit to carry any out of this state. Prices of commodities: sugar, rum (West Indies and Continental), Madeira wine, best foreign salt, homemade salt, tea.
