Synopsis
-
Mears wishes Lopez good luck in the lawsuit. Some misunderstandings in messages were exchanged with Mrs Seixas. Lopez had ordered his son to forward some salt to Norwalk and Mears promises to find the best deal to sell it, despite the bad market for this article. Mears anticipated Lopez’s orders respecting his spirits, by seizing a good opportunity. He also advises Lopez to send to Norwalk his velvets, since they will meet an equal profit there than in Philadelphia. Snuff and tobacco are wanted, and he and Mr Simson are available to join Lopez in this business – the money Mr Jarvis tendered at Lopez’s service for a bill on Boston will answer for this purchase. Prices of commodities: sugar, foreign salt, snuff, coffee, rum, tea, indigo, back pepper, molasses, tobacco, homemade geneva, writing paper. Barcelona handkerchiefs are in particularly high demand. Shintz’s and calicoes also meet a great call.
