Synopsis: David reports to his uncle that bearer Captain Smart purchased several articles (cloth) and requested a recommendatory letter to Lopez, being in want of sundries that were not in Providence. David says that Captain Smart is a regular customer of himself. Captain Nickery refused to take anything except hard money. “We have nothing farther from below excepting a continuing apperance of the enemy’s embarkation.”
