Synopsis
-
David congratulates Lopez on the safe arrival of his wife. He reports that he had immediately applied to Captain Sears for the goods that Lopez had engaged but found him indisposed to attend their delivery. Goods of every kind have taken an amazing start and cannot be obtained at any rate for the currency of the country. He gives the example of sugars and dry goods. So, Davis tells that he cannot advise the investor of any part of the money Lopez left in his hands. He proposes to leave Newport for Providence on Sunday morning and then proceed to Leicester. Mr Mendes delivered him 60 dollars for Captain Nickery. Moses Seixas asks Lopez’s favour, when he writes to Amsterdam, to give him and Hyam Levy an introduction to Daniel Crommelin & Sons.
