Synopsis
Brigantine: Hope. Captain: Nathaniel Hathaway. Destination: Surinam. Lopez and his partners give instructions on the way that Hathaway should follow to Surinam. When he arrived there, he should deliver the cargo to Captain Joseph Dean, to whom it is consigned. Hathaway should not last more than 5 weeks in Surinam. During this time, Dean should put on board the Hope as much molasses as he can obtain. If Hathaway does not find Dean in Surinam, he should open the letter that Lopez addressed to Dean and follow the directions explained in this letter to dispose of the cargo to the best advantage. In the absence of Captain Dean, Hathaway should consult and take the advice of John Welsch, a merchant in Surinam. Hathaway is also instructed to procure in Surinam good bills of exchange on Amsterdam, taking attention that the drawers and indorsers of the said bill are able and responsible men.
