This collection is made up of documents contained in the Codices Section of the Cathedral Archive of Avila. The codices contain a huge amount of information concerning the Jews of Avila. In particular, there are two manuscripts that must be taken into account:
The first codex, from the 14th and the 15th centuries, was written on paper and includes information regarding the rental of properties belonging to the cathedral chapter, from different periods (1387-90; 1391-99; 1400-09; 1416-18). There is information about the rental of houses, transfer of properties, etc. Throughout this period, the areas where Jews lived in Avila were Yuradero, Mercado Chico, Plaza de San Juan, Caldeandrin, Mercado Grande, Santo Tome, Cal de Berruecos, Callejuela del Toledano, Rua de los Zapateros, Calle del Lomo and San Vicente. In particular, the Jewish butcher shop was located in the San Silvestre quarter.
The second codex, also written on paper, is related to the cathedral chapter and real estate and contains information for the years 1442-48, 1450-59, 1460-69, 1470-71. Once again there are data about property rentals, sales, and purchases. The location of these properties, where Jews carried out their day-to-day activities, were San Silvestre, Mercado Chico, Caldeandrin, Covaleda, Rua de los Zapateros and Mercado Grande.
